Today we rise again.
It s the international women day, celebrated as an official public holiday for the first time in Berlin.
We are not the same. It is easy to split us into all these seperate sections according to gender, nationality, sexual orientation, social status, skin color..the categories are endless. Yet, we are much more alike than we are different, as Govinda Kai beautifully summed it up.
Marching the streets today I stand up as a human being for my daughter, my mother, my girlfriends,
just as much as for my brother, my father, the men in my life,
just as much as for any random person at the other end of the world.
We are in this together!
May we all live in dignity. The more we take care of other peoples physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, the higher the chances that we ourselves thrive in this friendly social environment. It is so precious to live in a peaceful society, it might be one of the most lucky lives a human can get. Peace can never be maintained by only one group.
Claiming my rights to be treated equally as a female human being is not about polarising! It is one expression of an overarching humane cause.
Marching the streets is the political expression of the yogic aspiration: Lokah Samastah Sukhinoh Bhavantu. May all beings be free from suffering.
We are all in this together!
